The Vikings are back in Town. I still remember the time when Amon Amarth played the Summer Breeze Festival at 13:00 in the bright sun (man, I’m getting old). By now the Force from the North got over those times and is playing the headliner spot on most festivals. This time there was no boat on the stage, no Viking Actors or anything else, this time it was just about the music… and Amon Amarth were rocking the stage tonight. The sound was great and the setlist as well.

Shooting Notes

The mainstage at the Summer Breeze Festival was a bit difficult to shoot. Really high and not a lot of space in the photopit made it really hard. As soon as the musicians on stage stepped back from the edge a bit they were out of range. During the day you had the chance to climb the barrier to get a few fast shoots of the drummer without annoying the people standing in the front to much, but in the evening with all those stagedivers… no chance. Using the Canon 70-200 f2.8 you had enough range towards the back, but towards the front I wished for a full frame senor. Alternative was using the 24-70 which was below 60mm to short. Well, can’t have everything. Setting were f2.8 at ISO 800 with a shutter time between 1/200 and 1/640
