Dark Tranquillity – Summer Breeze Open Air 2010

I was excited to see Dark Tranquillity finally again performing live, not only because it’s a while since I last saw them in concert, but also because I really enjoyed their latest album ‚We Are the Void‘, which is in my opinion their best release since ‚Damage Done‘. As usual the Band played a great show. They added a great visual element by running various projections during their gig.
Shooting Notes
Well, even though the gig was great and the visual show was nice to watch, it was a pain in the ass to shot. Do to the fact, that the image of the projector needed a dark environment to show on the back of the stage, the lights were really really dim, the only plus here was, that there also was no stage smoke. Shooting wide open with an aperture of f2.8 and getting the ISO up between 1000 an 1600 was necessary to get some light into the lens with a shutter speed of 1/100. For most parts that still wasn’t enough, so I had to get the flash out. I dialed that thing down about 1 stop to make it show less in the pictures which resulted in pretty dark shots and I had to work on them in post.
