Exhorder – Rock Hard Festival 2010

The name Exhorder was totally new for me. Most of the time I’m at least familiar with the names of Bands, but I never run across those guys before. After a few seconds into the set, I was asking myself why… what the Band showed off here was probably one of the best gigs if ever listened to. Intense, tight and growling their goal seemed to be to destroy the amphitheater and everybody in the crowd wanted to help. Within minutes the first moshpits formed and the securities didn’t get a break handling all the stagedivers. Unbelievable. I definitly need to keep my eyes open for those guys, if they ever come back to Germany.
Shooting Notes
Even though the Band played quite an intensive set, they weren’t moving that much on stage. That made it quite easy keeping up with them. Just bassplayer Franky Sparcello and singer Kyle Thomas were all over the place. Vinnie Labella and Jay Ceravolo kept to their sides of the stage most of the time, but kept on headbanging like crazy. Shooting with a shutter speed of 1/640 at f4 took care of getting everything sharp, even though I had to bump the ISO to 400. Do to the fact that the Pit was packed not only with the photographers, but also with all the stagedivers coming in, I was using the 24-70 and 70-200 all the time and didn’t have a chance to get the 10-22 out.

I like the photos! As a photographer I know it can be tough to choose
the best shots but they’re great. I take advantage of a number
of Lightroom presets to keep some consistency with my own.
