Legion of the Damned – Summer Breeze Open Air 2009

The Dutch Thrash Metal Super Group Legion of the Damned are always a blast to watch. Tight riffing, enourmous energy and vocals and a guitar tone that cuts right through the audience… I love them, can you tell? I got to confess, the songs are simple and not really inventive, but if you get the drift after a couple of minutes, you can’t stop headbanging.
Shooting Notes
Bumping the ISO up to 500 gave me long enough shutter speeds to get the hair moments sharp, that you can expect from a Band with three guys with hair down to their knees. To capture most of the motion, I was using the 24-70 about 85% of the show and got the 70-200 out for some close-ups. During the gig I was missing the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 quite a lot, to bad Tokina wasn’t able to get me a lens that didn’t have a backfokus even though they replaced it three times.
