Lately I’m starting to work more and more with my flash off camera. This here is the result of a shooting I did with two of my good friend Tina and Daniel. Even though both are not used to having their picture taken, it all went pretty smooth and with two faces like that you can’t get it wrong. I just love the look Daniel got with his dreadlocks, that by itself makes the picture worth taking (you should have seen him before he got the Dreads… puh).

Shooting Notes
The shooting was done Strobist style, because we got into some back alleys and onto the tracks of an old abandoned Trainstation. I can’t help myself, but the look of those old lost places makes the garbage you have to climb over to get there so much more bareable.
I was shooting with my Canon 40d, the 24-70 and the 70-200. We used one to three flashes (Nikon Sb-80dx) on manfrotto nano stands. Most of the time I went with a 16 inch Softbox as main and a bare flash as rimlight. On the singles I just used the Softbox and boomed it over either Daniel or Tina. Using rimlight wasn’t possible because they stood in front of a small wall with a 150 feet drop at the other side. The Pics in the alley (see the leadpicture) were done with the Softbox as main, the rimlight and this time I also added a flash with an umbrella as fill.
