The Devil’s Blood were just a station waiting for Ahab, the last Band this evening. After seeing the Band at the Rock Hard Festival this year I wasn’t that thrilled to see them again, but I thought I would give them another chance. Before the Band came on stage, everything was wrapped in plastic, which was a sure sign, that there would be blood involved in the show. As prediced the Band come on stage covered from head to toe and so I had to watch out a bit not to be covered also while shooting.

Shooting Notes

Do to the extensive use of blood I started shooting using the Canon EF 70-200 f2.8, to get a little distance between me and the edge of the stage, not to be sprayed by the headbanging on stage. After a while I switched to the 24-70 to get a little closer after I thought the initial wave of blood was over. Do to the fact, that there was only backlight, I got my flash out to get some light into the faces of the musicians. Do to that I was able to shoot at ISO 800 with a shutter speed of about 1/160.
